According to United States Department of Education data, 1 child in 166 suffers from an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), which includes conditions like aspergers. According
to that data, 22,780 students between the ages of 6 and 21 were enrolled in American schools in the 1994-95 school year.
That figure rose to 166,302 during the 2004-05 academic year. Among children ages 3-5, there were 15,581 students during
2000-01, which increased to 25,902 by the 2004-05 school year. The data in Canada indicates a similar picture: 1 in every 150
Canadian children has a form of autism. The incidence of autism in Canada has increased from 1 in 10,000 in the 1970's to the
1 in 150 figure today, an increase of 6,000%.
If autism spectrum disorders (ASD) were merely random birth defects, we would expect their incidence
in the population to be consistent over time. Studies
by Professor James Adams, PhD of Arizona State and other doctors active with DAN protocols have shown that mercury and other heavy metals
are prevalent in many children with autism. Other studies suggest a
possible link between a mercury-containing preservative found in many vaccines, thimerosal,
and the high mercury levels in autistic children; as the number of immunizations rose, so did the incidence of autism. A
new study published on 15 May 2007 in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health (Geier/Geier) clearly suggests there is a direct causal link between mercury exposure from thimerosal-preserved vaccines and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The same authors published
another report linking thimerosol to neurodevelopmental disorders in the spring 2003 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. Click

primarily because the package labeling listed the thimerosal concentration, but not the actual amount of mercury.
A concentration of 1:10,000 seems like a very small amount, but this concentration provides 25 micrograms of mercury
in a single dose of vaccine. Also, the term 'mercury derivative' has been used to describe thimerosal, which may have
been interpreted to mean that the product did not have the same biologic effects as mercury. While it is not unanimously accepted that thimersol concentration can contribute to autism cases, it is well documented that
mercury causes neuron degeneration.
Dr. Joseph Mercola, a sort of celebrity doctor famous for his health newsletter, adds in an

here that the information-carrying radio waves from cell phone base stations
and cell phones make children's exposure to vaccines and heavy metals much more dangerous than they typically are.

 In the June 2007 issue of Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health , a study by J. B. Adams, et al, titled Mercury, Lead, and Zinc in Baby Teeth of Children with Autism Versus Controls was published, and according to the authors, children with autism have three times as much mercury in their baby teeth. Conclude the authors, "Preventing mercury exposure could prevent many cases of autism. Removal of heavy metals may help reduce autistic symptoms, especially in young children." (Click
